The Corrected Appearance Algorithm is a important algorithm in ancient Chinese planetary theory. Calendar-makers before Zhang Zi-xin calculated the moment at which planets firstly appeared according to the average speed of five planets and the sun. From Huangji Calendar of the Sui Dynasty on, calendarmakers began to consider the equation center of five planets and the sun when they designed the corrected appearance algorithm. In Chongtian Calendar of the Song Dynasty, the corrected appearance algorithm falled into a pattern. In this paper, we discuss the history of corrected appearance algorithm and divide it into four phases according to the features of . corrected appearance algorithm, and the critical points of four phases are Huangji Calendar, Dayan Calendar and Chongtian Calendar.
