At present,China is actively deploying the industry of the Internet of Things（IoT）.One of contents of deploying planning is to cultivate the industrial competitiveness.The diamond model is a powerful tool for the analysis of industrial competitiveness.In the paper,we analyze development environment for the IoT industry from the perspective of production factor conditions,demand conditions,business strategy,structure and competition,the performance of the related and supporting industries,as well as opportunities and government,and propose solutions of developing IoT industry such as quick planning-making of Jiangxi IoT industry development,strengthening knowledge innovation,fostering and introducing talent,taking dislocation development strategy,strengthening development of supporting and related industry,and focusing on cultivation of applications demand of IoT.
