For the demand of portable charging function with low power consumption and high reliability for battery powered devices, a power solution of highly-integrated switch-mode battery charge management and system power path management for single cell Li-ion and Li-polymer battery mobile power was designed. Its low impedance power path optimized switch-mode operation efficiency, reduced battery charging time and extended battery life during discharging phase. In addition, the FC serial interface with charging and system settings made the power supply more flexible, and the design of battery capacity detection and other protection functions further improved the solution of the mobile power. The test results show that the mobile power achieves 93.2% charge efficiency at 2 A, 94.5% boost efficiency at 1 A, ± 0.5% charge voltage regulation accuracy, ± 7% charge current regulation accuracy and ± 2% output voltage regulation accuracy in boost mode. All the protection functions can reliably work.
