Customer commitment is a psychological bond that is fundamental to customer retention. Following a brief introduction of the theoretical background of the emergence of customer commitment, the paper presents an overall review of customer commitment research along lines of nature, dimensionality, antecedents, and consequences. In response to the problems and deficiencies of extant research, the paper offers some suggestions regarding future research.
