The second land survey of Huairen county of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province as a case study, Huairen county land use database has been established by designing hierarchical structure for the rural land use data, which were acquisited and processed by GIS technology. Based on the land survey database, the current land use in rural areas are classified and aggregated to analyse the rural land-use structure in the Huairen county. By compared with Huairen coun- ty land use in the past, the amount of land use and the changes in cultivated land, woodland etc. are comprehensively analysed.
