The electro-optic effect of liquid crystal is expounded, and the testing method of liquid crystal transmission by using spectrophotometer is introduced. By altering voltage and frequency of liquid crystal cell, the transmission of liquid crystal is tested. Voltage-dependent birefringence effect of liquid crystal is analyzed by constructing figures. The rules of transmission dependent on voltage and frequency, threshold voltage dependent on frequency are gained. This is useful for designing and researching of liquid crystal device.
