Based on the Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic (EM) theory, according to the method of separating variable and the Sommerfeld-Fourier integral and by means of integrating the dipole field along the wire, the solution of electromagnetic field generated by vertical wire electric source was derived. Theoretical formulations of electromagnetic field of vertical wire source in some different geoelectrical conditions were obtained. These cases include dipole source in the deeper drill in uniform half space, the vertical wire current source whose length is finite or infinite in uniform half space and the vertical dipole or wire current source in sea water whose depth is finite or infinite. These formulations can be used in theoretical calculation for ground and marine EM method. The correctness of the proposed theoretical formulations is examined by the results derived in a particular case.
