The fundamental effects of software engineering （SE） eduCation in training professional persons with abilities in the fields of information technology were analyzed, and several problems to be solved urgently during the SE teaching process were demonstrated. The idea of reforming and enhancing SE teaching by using experimental instrument was suggested. Furthermore, the concept of software engineering experimental instrument （SEEI） was provided, and a developed SEEI, called Software Instrument Platform, was introduced. The practical application of the software instrument platform shows its value and significance.
