The idea of“Pure art”could be traced to the influence of two aspects. One is romantic and aestheticism literature ideological trend; the other is from Kant to Benedetto Croce and the present aesthetic philosophy. This article will clarify from two aspects of this reasoning. Besides, review the process of Chinese accepting the concept of“pure art”. On this basis,we will examine if to cultivate one’s morality through art education could be considered as“utili-tarianism”.
