Based on the present situation of planning and energy consumption in rural schools of Northwest China, this paper analyzes the new requirements of the overall planning of the campus from the perspective of green design concept. It puts forward the northwest rural schools energy-saving and emission reduction planning model in five aspects including safety, health and emergency evacuation system, communication and interaction space system, energy-saving, emission reduction and ecological cycle system, practice base and green ecosystem, and environmental awareness and science and technology displaying system.
