The development history of quality management（QM） is introduced;Then the differentiation and relation among QM, quality science, quality engineering are analyzed, and QM is regarded as the canonical appellation of the subject. Discussion on the subject orientation ＆ science status of QM is the stress of this paper. The author thinks that QM isn＇t paid enough attention to by the word. This situation influences and even blocks QM＇s further development. China wants to build harmonious society in the guidance of Scientific Views of Development ,presently it is imperative to attach importance to QM and study the quality issue of society economy development.
