With the growing frequency of occurrence of natural disasters and the expanding losses, the evaluation and measurement of post-disaster losses are becoming more and more important. Therefore, on the basis of expounding the evaluation index system for losses of agricultural catastrophes and the evaluation process, this article puts forward a number of assessing methods for losses caused by agricultural catastrophes according to features of agricultural production such as rhythm and periodicity, so as to offer some scientific and accurate basis of loss setting for the insurance companies and governments at all levels to carry out insurance claims, disaster relief, restoration and reconstruction.
