Tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) which are correlated with the development, progression, invasion, migration and metastasis of tumor cell, differentiate from peripheral blood monocytes that migrate into the tumor microenvironment. MiRNAs are short endogenous nucleotide non-coding RNA sequences. And they participate in the development and progression of many tumors. Recent studies have revealed that specific miRNAs play important roles in the polarization and phenotype of TAMs. They may provide a possible molecular target for anti-tumor targeted therapy. This review will focus on the recent research progresses in this field.
