Because of the better properties, Al-Si alloy has been one of the most important materials in the manufacturing industry. The recent development and corrosion behavior of Al-Si alloy were reviewed, the inhibitors and surface processes were summarized, the application and protection also were forecasted in this paper. In order to expand the application of Al-Si alloy in automotive, the researchers always study the new materials. The investigation of the new materials, the exploitation of the corrosion inhibitors and surface processes technologies will expand the development of the Al-Si alloy in automotive industry further.
