We briefly introduce the function of counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar cells, and indicate that counter electrode is the important research direction of dye-sensitized solar cells in the future.Performance and technology of metal counter electrode, carbon counter electrode, polymer counter electrode and CuO counter electrode are particularly reviewed. Moreover, forward research and development tendency of counter electrode are presented and expounded.
