A single species fishery model with propertional harvest and forbidden fishing period was formulated. The existence, uniqueness and stability of periodic solution were discussed. It was pointed out that there is an optimal forbidden fishing period such that both the number of the species and the yield of the fish are maximum in a manage- ment cycle. Finally, the corresponding numerical simulations were given to illustrate the mathematical results.
