The mechanisms of expansion caused by ettringite including the crystal growth theory and the swelling theory are expounded. Also, the mechanism of inhibition is illuminated. The current research progresses of crystallization inhibitors abroad, the effect of some inhibitors and some factors influencing the effect are introduced and summarized. Finally, the further work to be done for crystallization inhihitors in our country is also discussed.
