The calculation of the foreign trade volume should not only take the volume of the direct trades into consideration but also that of the indirect ones.. This paper studies the relationship between the energy consumption of various industries and the trades through the calculation of the indirect energy trade volume in the industry foreign trade between 1996 and 2005, and analyzes the impacts of China＇ s trade pattern on energy consumption from the perspective of trade.
