The selection of approaching avenue is a process of automatic analysis and extraction of the maneuver route which is fit for the transit of people and mobile equipment in the task region. In this paper, the topographic and tactical elements which should be considered in the selection process are described in detail. Based on the digital topographic map, the digital terrain a- nalysis method is adopted to present the steps of automatic computation of approaching revenue and the final results. This paper provides a brand - new thought for the selection of approaching avenue based on digital map.
