Syncytin-1 is a common protein in human reproductive system envelope, which is located in the first trimester trophoblast and plays an important role in the fetus development. The abnormal expression may lead to intrauterine growth retardation, pathological embryonic, tumor and multiple sclerosis. This paper will give an overview of syncytin-1 on synthesis, function, association with cancer and relationship with regulatory pathway on tumor activation.
