This paper summarizes the main progress of the technique of satellite altimetry and the related methods of data processing,and presents some new results in its applications,such as the marine numerical models including mean sea sur face height and marine gravity,the researches on the global sea level change,ocean current and its relationship with cli mate change.An outlook on the future of satellite altimetry and its applications are given as conclusion.
