Before approaching Allagelena difficilis females, males display a series of complex courtship behavior, including abdomen and pedipalps vibrating rhythmically. After females accept the courtship vibrations males send, females exhibit sexual receptivity and males climb female back to copulate. A complete mating lasts about 5 hours. There is one generation a year of A. difficilis in Wuhan, and eggs overwinter. Spideflings ofA. difficilis emerge in March. In August, some A. difficilis mature, and September is the mating peak of the funnel-web spider.
