Neurotensin is a polypeptide,distributed mainly in the brain and the gastrointestinal tract.It has a wide range of central and peripheral effects.Recent studies indicate that the signal of neurotensin and neurotensin receptor 1 is closely associated with proliferation,anti-apoptosis,invasion,and metastasis of breast cancer.The fact that high expression of neurotensin receptor 1 in breast cancer may provide a great potential to exploit new tumor imaging agents based on neurotensin analogues or neurotensin receptor-targeted therapeutic drugs,which may contribute to the early diagnosis and therapy in breast cancer.
