It is pointed out that alfalfa has become an increasingly broad development prospect in China′s animal husbandry as a kind of high quality forage,which has been extensively introduced and cultivated in various countries around the world.As a kind of high quality forage which is widely introduced and cultivated in the world,alfalfa has more and more broad prospects in the livestock industry in china.How to promote the accelerated development of alfalfa industry in China to meet the huge gap of alfalfa industry has become the urgent problem to be solved.This paper introduced the distribution and development of alfalfa industry in the world and expounded the problems and challenges of alfalfa industry in China and the prospect of its development in the future.From the point of view of market supply and demand,the alfalfa industry in China is far from being able to meet the needs of the domestic market.Therefore,it is necessary to expand the planting area of alfalfa and increase the unit yield of alfalfa,whichis a problem to be solved in production.
