objective： to investigate the chemical constistuents of gorgonian Echinogorgia sp.Methods： the compounds were isolated by repeated chromatography and their structures were identified on the basis of spectral methods and chemical analysis.Result： Two polyhydroxylated sterols： cholest-3β,5α,6β,11β-tetrol（1）,cholest-22（23）-ene-3β,5α,6β,11β-tetrol（2）,were isolated from the gorgonian Echinogorgia sp.Conclusion： compounds 1 and 2 were isolated and identified from this gorgonian for the first time
