Sublepidodendron mirabile, S. songziense, correlative strobilus and rhizomorph are described from the Lower Carboniferous Gaolishan Formation in Linxiangxi Section, Ziqiu Town, Changyang County of Hubei Province. Morphology of leaf cushions of these two Sublepidodendron species are reinvestigated, and the whole-plant concept of Sublepidodendron is further confirmed. The biological features of S. mirabile, S. songziense and S. grabau/ are compared in detail, the taxonomy of Sublepidodendron in China is discussed, and a new grouping scheme is proposed.
