Scientific research in universities is a complex activity that involves multi-inputs and multi-outputs.Using the method of data envelope analysis,the study is carried out on the input-output data of scientific research in ten major universities in Jiangsu Province.It is found that scientific research activity in major universities is of scale benefit overall,but the growth mode is still extensive.There still exists deficiency in input-output efficiency.The mechanisms remain to be further improved.
