Hen Eggshell is an abundant natural proteinous resource, and can be readily obtained almost anywhere as waste. As an important consistence of eggshell, eggshell membrane is a kind of natural biomaterial with excellent properties and great potential to be used in many fields. Here, we review our research work on eggshell membrane protein in the latest few years, including isolation of soluble eggshell membrane protein from natural eggshell membrane and its application in the preparation of a variety of biocompatible materials.
