Based on linear fatigue-damage accumulation theory and fracture mechanics, the deterministic assessment approach was proposed, in which the fatigue failure behavior of riveted steel bridges was reflected. According to the stochastic fatigue failure mechanism of riveted steel bridges, two probabilistic fatigue failure models-brittle and ductile were established. Moreover. a double-angle probabilistic fatigue failure model (DAPFFM) for riveted members and a system fatigue reliability assessment model for riveted truss bridges were proposed, in which the effects of the fatigue failure mechanism, multi-failure models, riveted multi-elements, riveted build-up multi-members of riveted steel bridges, etc. were included, Furthermore, based on Monte-Carlo method, a large system fatigue reliability analysis program was developed to calculate members and system fatigue failure probability of riveted steel bridges.
