Considering the real shape of nuclei in phae transformation processes, we modified Cahn' s volume fraction formulae of the phase transformation with grain boundary nucleation and interface-controlled growth. When the input experimental data are nucleation and growth rates of phase transformations, there are great differences between the results calculated by the traditional formulae and those calculated by the modified formulae. If the input experimental data are in-situ observations of volume fraction in the phase transformation processes, the differences between them will be minor and mainly due to the fitting-errors. In any case, the differences of the grain sizes given by two models are huge, which will greatly influence the rheological structures in subduction zones.
