This paper aimed to discuss combined rule of elements in the process of land consolidation, which can supply technology support for government and perfect technical order of land consolidation. Methodologies of theory analysis and hierarchic index classification were applied. Results show that land consolidation pattern is an entity with extrinsic representative form and combined rule, which is composed of elements in the land consolidation system at given time in specific region. Land consolidation pattern can be classified in terms of four indices, including terrain characteristics, land use type to be consolidated, land consolidation target and operating method. According to these four indices, the land consolidation pattern in China is classified.
