To verify insect wings' viscoelastic stress-relaxation, experiments on dragonfly wings' veins were performed. The curve fitting results show that their constitutive behavior can be described with standard linear-solid model. Theoretical deduction results also show that as a consequence of their viscoelastic properties, insect wings are almost two times stiffer in high frequency flapping flight than usual, which is very useful for controlling the range of wing deformation and flight stability.
