The bombys batryticatus of O. sinensis was like a silkworm with 8 pairs of feet and yellow body surface. It smelled slightly bilgy odour and tasted slightly bitter. Its fruiting body was nearly cylindrical in shape, brown in color, flexible and slim. The upper part of the fruiting body slightly swelled with the top infertile. Perithecium was egg - shaped and grew basally. Ascus was gracile, which grew from the base of perithecium and got an apical cap. 2 （4） ascospores were filiform, muhiseptation and uncracked. Hirsutella sinensis, the anamorph of Ophiocordyceps sinensis, grew very slowly. The conidiophores were uniparous or fascicled with rotiform branches. The generator cell was bottle - shaped and 2 - 4 （ 6 ） reniform to elliptical conidia were pro- duced, which were surrounded by one mucosa.
