Based on an empirical investigation, the paper suggests that the mass media＇s improper performance in the report of Tang Fuzhen self-immolation incident has caused ＂demolition psychology＂. By improving the current commtmication structure, media can shape the public rational perception about government, dredge negative emotions, and relieve conflict between the government and the public. Thus, media may play a role in slow- releasing demolition psychology and rebuilding government mast.
