The parametric expressions of 7/5 biorthogonal wavelet filter bank (FB) family were derived based on the perfect reconstruction condition of such wavelet. By assigning various arbitrary real numbers to the parameter in its expression, any 7/5 FB with different features can be constructed with ease; all of them have the linear phase. As an illustration, a rational-coefficient 7/5 FB with optimal coding gain was constructed. Extensive simulations showed that it has compact performance similar to that of the popular 9/7 FB by Cohen, Daubechies, and Feauveau for image coding, and the corresponding lifting of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) gains an improvement upon computational efficiency up to 20 % over the latter.
