To effectively obtain wind and wave loads for marine structural design in the return period of environ- mental loads, the concept and characteristics of the Archimedean Copula function are briefly described, and the se- curity domain of return periods of a sample is defined. Some common return periods and the secondary return period based on C-measure of the Archimedean Copula function are compared and analyzed. Secondary return period is firstly applied to the return period analysis of wind-wave joint probability distribution, and the data analysis shows that the definition of secondary return period is precise and the calculation results of secondary return period are closer to the return period of actual load effects.
