The importance of correct installation of air valves in irrigation systems was analyzed in detail in this paper. According to the structure characteristic of the air inflow and release valves, specialized types and correct installation ways of air valves suitable to irrigation system were recommended. Also, combining with application example, a series of formulas and procedure for calculating the orifice size were provided in detail, which will be helpful to select and install the air valves properly.
