A local control model for 3D human face is proposed in the paper based on the anatomic structure of facial skeleton and muscles. There are two layers of mesh grid in this model, where the interior one represents facial skeleton, and the exterior one represents facial skin. The facial skin of exterior layer is divided into several functional regions, with each region making use of an individual subregion deformation model. We also implemented a 3D face reconstruction system based on this local control model, which has been integrated successfully into a computer-aided design system for glasses.
