With the development of cloud computing and mobilenetwork, the bandwidth of backbone network is facing enormous challenges. IEEE 802.3 Industry Connection＇s HigherSpeed Ethernet Consensus activity was set up to build consensus related to initiating a new efforttargeting the next speed of Ethernet for wireline applications. In this paper, the technologies and standardization advances of beyond 100GE and 100Gb/sare introduced, and the development trends of beyond IOOG transmission are discussed as well.
