The Fifth International Symposium on Persimmon was hold in Wuhan （Hubei） and Gongcheng （Guangxi） on Oct 20-26, 2012. This summary report introduced the general situation of the symposium, briefly stated the current situation and development tendency of persimmon （Diospyros kaki Thunb.） scien- tific research and industry in the world, analyzed the achievements in China and the remaining gaps be- tween China and advanced countries, finally gave some suggestions to future domestic persimmon indus- try and scientific research.
