To solve the problem that fault effects are not considered while using quality function deployment (QFD) to translate customer needs into design requirement, a new integrated model has been proposed with a notion of failure correction factor by which FMEA was introduced into conventional QFD. Fuzzy set theory was also applied to this integrated model by using triangle fuzzy numbers instead of precise numbers. An example of reducer design is also presented to illustrate the proposed framework.
