The essence of architectural education is design teaching, the core value of which lies in building the system of design method. This paper introduces the meaning of research-oriented design teaching and its development in foreign architectural education, indicating that it is a kind of popular trend at present, interpreting the building and construction teaching at domestic colleges, expounding that building and construction teaching is a kind of teaching mode containing the research-oriented design teaching idea, which represents a new development trend in architectural design education and deserves to be strengthened and promoted at different stages of the architectural education.
