The responsibility and work orientation of undergraduates＇ academic tutors in high level research universities should be in accordance with universities＇ running concepts of cultivating talents, meet high demands of high level students, and change their roles from all-round consultant to academic guiders. For tutors majoring in humanities, their work orientation should focus on students＇ professional identity, study counseling and academic guidance. Specifically, for students in low grades, the tutors＇ main tasks are inspiring their curiosity, cultivating their professional interests and studying methods, thus helping them complete the transition from exam-oriented learning to autonomous learning. While, for those who are in high grades, tutors＇ tasks are inspiring their academy desire through extracurricular reading and paper writing, cultivating students＇ academic and innovation ability, thus helping them finish the transition from autonomous learning to research learning.
