GGN1 is a functional unknown testis-specific protein. It is the expression product of the testis-specific gene Gametogenetin （Ggn）, which has several different splicing variants giving rise to three proteins. GGN1 is one of the proteins. Previous data show that the expression of Ggn is associated with spermatogenesis. GGN1 was found to interact with several proteins, including FANCL, GGNBP1, GGNBP2 and OAZ3. The function of GGN1 is still unkown. Since GGN1 is germ cell-specific and cell lines expressing GGN1 are not available, here we obtained a CHO- K1 cell strain stably expressing GGN1 by transfection and G418 seletion.
