A series of 9-aryl-3-methyl-1,8-dioxo-2,10-dioxanthens were synthesized by the reaction of aromatic aldehydes,4-hydroxyl-6-methyl-2-pyranone and 1,3-cyclohexadione in glycol.The structures of the products were determined by IR,NMR and X-ray diffraction analysis.
