bùfánɡ（不妨） has been undergoing the process of grammaticalization from an adverbial-verb phrase to a full adverb and,again,to a modal particle. Subjectivization gave great impetus to this process. Accompanying the intensification of its discourse function,the commentary adverb bùfánɡ has a new usage as a conjunction.
