In numerous applications, there are electronic devices or systems which work in hermetically sealed metal enclo- sures. Traditionally, people have to perforate the enclosures in order to power the devices or systems inside, and communi- cate with them. A wireless method which utilizes piezoelectric transducers to transfer electricity through metal enclosures by transmitting and receiving ultrasound is presented. The physical structures of the enclosures are remained complete, which makes this method more stable., safer, and lower costing than the traditional ways. Conjugate impedance matching method is analyzed, as well as the power transfer hardware, and the experimental results of the system. The experiments prove that the system can deliver maximum 5 watts direct current electricity through a piece of 15 mm thick steel plate with highest 16.6% efficiency. There is still room for improvement.
