The immunolglobulin-like transcript (liT) family of proteins are surface receptors expressed by myeloid and lymphoid ceils, including inhibitory receptors and activated receptors. Its interaction with corresponding ligands could induce immunosuppression or immune activation in various condictions. The interaction of the ligand human leukocyte antigen-G and ILT2/4 promotes immune suppressive activity and induces tolerogenic dendritic cells and regulatory T cells or myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). Here we discuss the recent studies on the roles of immunolglobulin-like transcript family receptors in tolerogenic immune regulation with their interaction with HLA-G.
