Lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase(LCAT) plays a vital role in the metabolism of plasma lip-oproteins,which maintains cholesterol homeostasis, regulates cholesterol transport and removes cholesterol from peripheral tissue.It also plays a significant role in free cholesterol esterification of high-density lipopro-tein(HDL),cholesterol reverse transport,metabolism of HDL and the process of atherosclerosis.Therefore, the depth research of LCAT is helpful to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases .
