Camisiidae belongs to the superfamily Nothridea in the order Oribatid, the subclass Acari, and is a lower oribatid group between those of the inferior oribatid and the higher oribatid. It is widely distributed in every zoogeographic region. Up to now, there are 79 known species and 5 subspecies in 3 genera with 5 subgenera in the world, and only 16 species belong to 2 genera known from China. This paper reviews the taxonomic history, current situation and progress of the family. Based on data for the zoogeographic distribution of genera and subgenera, it is noted that genera are majorly distributed in the Palaearctic, the Nearctic and the Oriental region. By the zoogeographic scheme of China, the Qingzang region and the Mengxin region each has only known one species because of a lack of research in the family. Keys to the 3 genera and 5 subgenera and to the known species from China are compiled in the present paper.
